Freelance Medical Writer

Preferred expertise in Gastroenterology | Travel primarily to Spain or Sweden required

We are looking for a freelance Medical Writer to support the development of professional medical and scientific meeting reports, as well as other high-quality scientific communication materials. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in medical writing, with preferred expertise in gastroenterology, and the flexibility to travel primarily to Spain or Sweden to cover congresses, meetings, and other live scientific events when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare professional medical and scientific meeting reports based on congresses, advisory boards, internal meetings, and other scientific events
• Attend selected meetings and congresses onsite to capture key discussions, presentations, and insights accurately
• Develop clear, accurate, and well-structured scientific content for reports, summaries, slide decks, and related materials
• Translate complex scientific data and meeting outcomes into concise, audience-appropriate documents while maintaining medical accuracy
• Collaborate with internal teams, medical experts, and clients to ensure reports reflect key objectives and scientific messaging
• Conduct literature searches and support reference validation where needed
• Ensure all materials are delivered in line with project briefs, timelines, and compliance requirements

Preferred profile

• Proven experience as a Medical Writer, ideally in a freelance capacity
• Strong experience in developing medical and scientific meeting reports
• Preferred therapeutic area experience in gastroenterology
• Excellent scientific writing skills in English, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and produce polished, professional reports under time-sensitive conditions
• Willingness and ability to travel primarily to Spain or Sweden to attend and cover scientific meetings and congresses
• Experience in congress reporting or live event coverage is highly preferred

Requirements

• Background in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or a related scientific field
• Previous experience in medical communications, scientific writing, or healthcare-related content development
• Strong organizational, communication, and reporting skills
• Availability on a freelance/project basis

• Experience working with pharmaceutical or healthcare clients
• Familiarity with compliance-driven medical communications
• Experience supporting international or regional scientific events
